How long should I book for?

At QV Medical, we strive for the very best in delivery of healthcare. We believe in taking our time with patients, and addressing each issue in depth. We believe this results in better outcomes for our patients, and better understanding from both sides. Our doctors take the time to fully understand and address each issue, as well as educate patients about the health issue, so that they are fully empowered and educated in their own health.

For this reason, we ask that you book a long appointment for multiple or complex issues, including:

  • womens health
  • mental health
  • complete health checks
  • care plans
  • multiple issues

If you have Medicare, please be aware that out-of-pocket costs are the same, regardless of appointment length. Please see our pricing page for more information.


New Patients

If you are a new patient, or visiting us after a long time, our receptionist will ask you to fill in a form to get your current details. It may be best to arrive 5 minutes early for your appointment to fill this out. Alternatively, you can print out the form HERE and bring the completed form with you. Also bring in your Medicare card, a form of identification and the details of your private health insurer (if you have it).

Our doctors aim to run as close to time as possible. We respect your time, and in order to help us with this, we ask that you book a long appointment if you feel that you need it.


How long do I need to book for?

Our doctors like to really get to the heart of the issue, and so may serve you best if there is plenty of time to fully explore the issue. For this reason, long appointments are preferred for some issues, in particular:

  • mental health
  • chronic disease
  • type 2 diabetes
  • weight management
  • some women’s health issues
  • multiple issues to be dealt with
  • complete health checks
  • work health checks

If you’re unsure if you require a long appointment, contact us and one of our friendly staff will be able to help you.

Please note that the out of pocket cost is the same regardless of the length of the appointment. Our doctors aim to provide the highest level of care while still running close to time, and for this reason we ask that you assist us by booking long appointments when appropriate.


Cancellations

Please let us know immediately if you need to cancel your appointment as we will give the appointment to another patient. Missed appointments will incur a cancelation fee of $30.00.


Bulk Billing

Bulk billing applies to patients under 16 years of age, full-time tertiary students with both a valid student card and Medicare Card and patients with both an aged pension card and Medicare card. All other patients are billed privately.


Overseas Students

Overseas students with OSHC are welcome at our clinic. Students are given a discount of approximately $10.00 on all services. At this time we can not offer direct billing, but we will issue you with a receipt and you can claim directly from your health insurer.
